Introduction
Drum Stick is especially used for vegetables. Its leaves, fruits, flower, bark, roots are useful for medicine. There is a need to aware Government and policy makers to promote commercial cultivation and promotion. An advocacy program was organized in Janakpur in partnership with Chandranagar Rural Municipality, Sarlahi and in coordination with Provincial Government, donor agencies and the private sector to invest in the campaign to promote Drum Stick farming in Madhesh Province.

Major Activities and Accomplishments:
The advocacy program was led by Chandrapur Rural Municipality to promote the commercial plantation and use of Drum stick in Madhesh Province. The Ministry of Social Development, Youth and Sport, Ministry of Land Management, Agriculture and Cooperatives, Regional Office of UNDP, Civil Society Organizations, Private Sector, and Development Partners participated in the program. The program was conducted on July 4, 2023.
Key Results
The Drum Stick advocacy program was instrumental in generating interest and awareness on the potential contribution in economic growth of farmers, viability to export in other countries and health benefits among the policy makers of Madhesh Province. The participants committed to develop appropriate policy and program along with budgetary provision for the development and promotion of Drum Stick agriculture in the Madhesh Province. Further, UNDP plans to make huge investment in future for drum stick farming. Altogether 36 local NGO/INGOs and Province Level Government representatives participated in advocacy program.
